The Best Time To Get Married In Savannah

Spring and fall are the favorites for a reason, but every month has something going for it. Here are the numbers, then what I would do with them.

Average highs, lows and monthly rainfall are NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals for Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. Sunset is calculated for downtown on the 15th, rounded to five minutes. Seasons are from the City of Savannah weddings page.

Spring, March To May

Highs climb from the low 70s to the mid 80s. Azaleas make it beautiful and everyone knows it, so popular dates go early and public spots are busy. Watch out for St Patrick's Day. The City has block out dates around it, and the Forsyth Park fountain is dyed green at the start of March and stays that way until after the celebration.

Summer, June To August

This is the hottest and wettest part of the year, with highs near 90 and around six inches of rain a month, according to those NOAA numbers. Book something with an indoor option, start your ceremony later and keep portraits in the shade. The City's off peak non resident permit rate also applies in these months.

Fall, September To November

Temperatures fall from the mid 80s to around 70, and November is the driest month on the table. These months are peak for City permits.

Winter, December To February

Highs in the low to mid 60s. It is quieter, the rates for City permits are off peak and sunset comes early, so build your day around an earlier ceremony. Here is how to plan for that.
